Meet Our Executive Achievers

Rick J. Murray, LSW, BCBA, LBA is the President / CEO and Founder of Achieving True Self (ATS).

Rick founded ATS in September 2016 after providing treatment, mentoring, and leadership for over 20 years within the field of human services. He has held many supervisory roles across behavioral health providers, outpatient clinics, partial hospitalization programs and educational settings, but has always kept a strong focus on autism and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

Prior to founding Achieving True Self, he served as a Vice President of Autism Service Development, overseeing and enhancing autism services across a multi-state network.

Rick has a master’s in social work (MSW) and a bachelor’s of science degree in psychology. Rick also holds a Professional Development Certificate in Autism from Penn State University where he also completed a program to prepare him to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

A true visionary in the field, Rick is actively involved in several grassroots organizations directly supporting the autism community and is the proud uncle of two nephews diagnosed on the autism spectrum. He has served on the Professional Advisory Council for ABOARD, was a founding board member for the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter of Autism Speaks, participated in the original Autism Think Tank for the Autism Help Network, and has raised over $300,000 for autism research and family services. He joined CEO’s Against Stigma, a campaign of NAMI Keystone PA. Rick has also advocated for behavior analyst licensure in Pennsylvania through The ABA in PA Initiative.

He has been recognized as Autism Professional of the Year by the Autism Connection of PA, previously known as ABOARD.

Rick has two children, and lives in a farmhouse in Westmoreland County, PA with many pets (including three horses!).

Fun Fact(s) About Rick: Rick enjoys spending as much time as possible with his family, especially in a boat on a sunny day on the waters of Lake Raystown. He’s also a huge Pitt fan … it’s “H2P” all the way for Rick and family!
