Training and Consultation for Schools

At ATS, we believe that by creating a comprehensive team that wraps around a student with a diagnosis, together we can and will create great change and cultivate unlimited progress so that the student may achieve his or her truest self. We can accomplish so much more together than if we work alone in separate environments on the same goals.


Who From ATS Can Support The Student’s Team?

ATS provides qualified and trained clinicians to students and their families, typically funded by private insurance coverage or Medicaid:

  • BCBA - Board Certified Behavior Analysts, or BCBAs, have either a doctoral or masters degree in Behavior Analysis, Education, Psychology, or another related field and carry a national certification from the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB).  They have extensive training and experience in designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating a wide range of ABA programs for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. The BCBA assigned to a student’s case oversees the entire treatment plan and supervises the technician.
  • BT/RBT - Behavior Technician (BT) and/or the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). The difference between a BT and an RBT is that an RBT has completed additional coursework, received additional supervision, and passed a comprehensive exam to receive certification from the BACB. The BT/RBT is who implements the goals and objectives outlined in a student’s ABA Assessment Summary and Treatment Plan developed by the BCBA.

How Can ATS Support The Student’s Team?

A BCBA can:

  • Develop and update an ABA Assessment Summary and Treatment Plan, incorporating school goals
  • Provide ongoing data analysis based on information collected
  • Make recommendations based on data and/or observations during on-site visits
  • Attend school meetings
  • Maintain open communication between parents and/or caregivers and school personnel

A BT or RBT can:

  • Work discreetly with their student, providing therapeutic intervention to improve behaviors
  • Facilitate positive communications and social interactions with teachers and peers
  • Improve a student’s ability to process and learn by reducing maladaptive behaviors
  • Allows teachers to focus on the classroom at large while the technician tends to their student’s behaviors

Members of the ATS Leadership Team can:

  • Provide additional clinical oversight to the BCBA guiding treatment
  • Help families to understand the services being provided to their loved one as well as the ABA process
  • Assist with identifying and accessing additional resources and natural supports across the community
  • What Do We Expect Of Our Staff As Guests In Your School?

We expect that our clinicians, as guests in your school, will:

  • Adhere to the expectations, policies, procedures and/or guidelines set forth by your district
  • Contact the school prior to visits or implementing a regular schedule as not to disrupt daily routines
  • Dress in business casual attire
  • Meet their student at the school (no bus riding is permitted) in a timely fashion
  • Stay with the student at all times, remaining alert to their needs
  • Address behaviors, not academics
  • Facilitate positive interactions between the student, peers and adults
  • Discreetly take notes and record data, never using names of other students per HIPAA and FERPA
  • Blend into the environment as not to stigmatize the student nor distract other learners
  • Self refer as “helpers” and not identify their role unless their student or student’s caregiver has done so
  • Avoid the use of cell phones during their shift with a student
  • Communicate with the student’s family in collaboration with the entire team
  • Maintain boundaries by not sharing personal information, socializing with personnel, or soliciting

ATS also partners with private and public schools through professional service contracts to provide more global comprehensive support throughout buildings. We can:

  • Develop, staff and maintain autistic support and/or emotional support classrooms
  • Create, staff and maintain ESY programs
  • Assist with IEP development (functional behavior assessment, behavior support plan, clinical program)
  • Conduct in-service trainings that are tailored to the needs of educators and paraprofessionals
  • Provide weekly email or phone consultation and/or monthly visitation from a BCBA
